PARIS—Alexandre Hayward and Nathan Clement took to the road for the last time as Para cycling wrapped up at Paris 2024 on Saturday.
Hayward finished fourth in the men’s C1-3 road race with a final time of 1:45:09, missing the podium by just over a minute. Competing in his first Paralympics, he earned a bronze in the men’s 3000m individual pursuit C3 earlier at these Games.
In the men’s T1-2 road race, Clement finished in ninth place. Formerly a para swimmer who competed at Rio 2016, he earned his first Paralympic medal in Paris with a silver in the men’s T1-2 Individual Time Trial.
The races marked the end of eight days of Para cycling competition in Paris, both on the track and on the road.
In addition to Hayward and Clement’s hardware, Canadians added two more bronze medals on the track, with Kate O’Brien in the women’s 500m time trial C4-5 and Keely Shaw in the women’s 3000m individual pursuit C4.
In total, Canada finishes Paris 2024 with four medals in Para cycling, beating their total haul from Tokyo 2020 by one.
