GATINEAU, QC, Jan. 24, 2024 – The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) today announced a new program that will recognize Canadian Paralympians for podium performances, providing a financial reward for medals won at the Paralympic Games.

Canada faces improving China in Friday’s semifinals at Para ice hockey worlds
CALGARY – Canada won its three preliminary round games in decisive fashion this week at the World Para Ice Hockey Championships, but head coach Russ Herrington is somewhat concerned that his troops are killing too many penalties.
That was particularly evident in Canada’s last round-robin game against Czechia, a 5-1 victory over the defending bronze medallists. In the first period alone, Canada was sent to the sin bin three times and after 15 minutes it was a worrisome 1-1 draw.
New IPC Classification Code made available ahead of Extraordinary General Assembly

Following a three-year open consultation process that engaged 80 percent of its membership, as well as the athlete community, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has published the final draft of the third edition of the IPC Classification Code at Classification Code review (paralympic.org). The draft Code will now be voted on for approval by the IPC Membership at an online Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) on 17 May 2024.

MONTREAL – World number-ones Alison Levine and Iulian Ciobanu, both of Montreal, won a silver medal in the BC4 pairs on Sunday to conclude the Montreal stop on the boccia World Cup circuit.
Canadians Nathan Clement and Alexandre Hayward win medals at Para cycling World Cup
OSTEND, Belgium – World champion Nathan Clement of West Vancouver and Alexandre Hayward of Quispamsis, N.B. won silver and bronze medals in the time trial events which concluded Friday at the second stop on the Para cycling World Cup road circuit.
In the men’s T1 (tricycle) time trial, Jianxin Chen of China edged Clement in the 19.7 kilometre race clocking 35 minutes and 43.602 seconds. Clement followed 19 seconds behind with Rongfei Lu of China third a further 11 seconds back.
