APPLEDOORN, the Netherlands – Paralympian Mel Pemble of Victoria raced to two more medals in a triple medal performance for Canada at the Para cycling world track championships which concluded on Sunday.

Alexandre Hayward of Quispamsis, N.B., added a bronze on the men’s side.

Pemble increased her world championship medal career total to 13 with a silver in the women’s C3 (conventional bike) sprint event on Friday and a bronze in the kilo on Sunday.

Hayward, a bronze medallist in the pursuit at the 2024 Paralympic Games, took bronze on Saturday in the men’s C3 elimination race.

Jessica Law of North Vancouver posted four top-10 finishes in the women’s C5 reaching the six-racer semifinal in the sprint, seventh in the scratch race and kilo and ninth in the elimination race.

Pemble was also ninth in the scratch race and elimination race. Hayward reached the semis in the sprint.

“I am very proud of how the team raced over this championship,” said Cycling Canada’s Chief of High-Performance Sport Sebastien Travers, who was previously head coach of the national Para team.

“We now have a good idea of what needs to be refined in the next two years to solidify our medal potential.”
