The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is proud to celebrate the incredible support of Pfizer Canada in announcing the latest Canadian Para athletes who will be completing internships with the CPC, providing the athletes with valuable career development opportunities while they continue to pursue excellence in their sports.

The 2025 internship participants are PyeongChang 2018 Para ice hockey silver medallist Dominic Cozzolino, who will be joining CPC’s Partnerships team, and Paris 2024 Para fencer Trinity Lowthian, who will be working with the Athlete Services and Engagement team (ASET).

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Pfizer Canada to continue this important internship program in 2025,” Francois Robert, CPC Chief Commercial Officer shared. “By investing in the professional development of Canadian Para athletes, we are not only preparing them for their own future success but also strengthening the Canadian sport system as a whole.”

CPC’s longest-standing partner, Pfizer Canada originally came on board in 1996 to support the nation’s participation in the Paralympic Games in Atlanta. The partnership has progressed over the years, including direct support of the Canadian Paralympic Team, supporting the athletes, and promoting health and wellness.

For Pfizer Canada, supporting the program that began in 2019, is a great way to allow these elite athletes to focus on their training of representing Canada on the world stage, but gaining invaluable experiences that will support them in their post-athlete careers.

“Pfizer Canada is honoured to continue our support of this internship initiative that empowers Canadian Para athletes both on and off the field of play,” said Vincent Lamoureux, Director – Global Health & Social Impact, Pfizer Canada. “We believe in helping to create lasting impact, and we are thrilled to have Dominic and Trinity take the next steps in their careers through this internship program with the Canadian Paralympic Committee.”

With his focus on making the Canadian Team for the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, the flexibility of the internship allows Dominic to acquire new professional skills while still pursuing his goals on the ice.

“For Pfizer Canada to back the Canadian Paralympic Committee and provide us athletes with internship opportunities is honestly remarkable. It speaks volumes about the kind of company they are,” Dominic shared. “Knowing Pfizer Canada is supporting not just our performance on the field of play but also investing in our careers beyond sport. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity.”

One of the breakout stars of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games was Trinity Lowthian, who recorded Canada’s best-ever Para fencing finish at the Games last summer and now is enjoying new experiences with the CPC.

“It means so much that Pfizer Canada is supporting Paralympic athletes in building well-rounded careers. Their values align so closely with mine and with the Canadian Paralympic Committee, especially the value of joy,” Trinity shared. “It’s empowering to be part of a program that recognizes how important it is to gain real-world experience while continuing to compete at an elite level.”

Through this initiative, Pfizer Canada is helping to build meaningful pathways for athletes transitioning into future careers, while recognizing the unique skills and leadership qualities that Paralympians bring to the workforce. Together, we are proud to support Canadian athletes in their journeys, not just to the podium, but into meaningful careers beyond competition.
