Paris Team adds 11 Athletes Across Five Sports as the Countdown to Games Continues

The current Canadian Paralympic Team numbers 31 across five sports with just 67 days to the Opening Ceremony.

Over the past two weeks, 11 of Canada’s elite Para athletes have been nominated to the Canadian Paralympic Team for the Paris 2024 Paralympics that will take August 28 to September 8 in Paris, France. Canada is expecting to send a team of approximately 140 athletes to the Games.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics are on track to be the most gender-balanced Paralympics in history, with an expected 45% of athletes being women, surpassing the historic record of 42% achieved at Tokyo 2020.

The President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Andrew Parsons, recently declared that “the Paralympic Games in Paris will be the most spectacular in history”.

CBC/Radio-Canada will be the official Canadian broadcast home of the Paris 2024 Paralympics with more information on the Paris 2024 broadcast schedule to be released in the weeks ahead.

Para rowing

Para swimming

Goalball

A team of six athletes has been nominated to represent Canada in the women’s goalball tournament at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Canadian Blind Sports Association announced Tuesday.

Canada is set to be represented by one athlete in the sport of Para badminton at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Badminton Canada announced Thursday, with Yuka Chokyu nominated to compete later this summer.

Kyle Tremblay has been nominated to compete for Canada in Para archery at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games this August, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Archery Canada announced Friday.
