Milano Cortina 2026 Day 2 Preview: Medal races set in Para snowboard and Para biathlon

Cortina, Italy, March 7, 2026 – After a busy and successful opening day at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, there is more exciting competition on the schedule for Canada’s Paralympians in Italy. Below is a run-down of Day 2 action for the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Paralympic Team on Sunday March 8:   

Para Snowboard 
Tyler Turner leads the way for Canada’s Para snowboard team as the snowboard cross finals take centre stage. Gold medallist four years ago at Beijing 2022, Turner is the top seed in the men’s SB-LL1 category. Joining him are Chase Nicklin (also in the men’s SB-LL1) alongside Sandrine Hamel in the women’s SB-LL2 and Alex Massie and Philippe Nadreau in the men’s SB-LL2. Play-off rounds begin at 11 a.m. local time / 6 a.m. ET with the medal races expected at 12:30 p.m. local time / 7:30 a.m. ET.  

Para Nordic Skiing – Para Biathlon  
Para biathlon races continue, with six experienced Canadian Paralympians set for the individual event. Christina Picton will be the first athlete off the start line at 10 a.m. local time / 5 a.m. ET in the women’s sitting, followed by Derek Zaplotinsky and Collin Cameron in the men’s sitting. The standing categories start at 12:10 p.m. local time / 7:10 a.m. ET with Milano Cortina 2026 silver medallist Natalie Wilkie and Brittany Hudak in the women’s event then Mark Arendz in the men’s.  

Wheelchair Curling 
Preliminary play continues in wheelchair curling, with two games on tap for Canada. Skip Mark Ideson and his team will take on Great Britain at 9:35 a.m. local time / 4:35 a.m. ET followed by Norway at 6:35 p.m. local time / 1:35 p.m. ET.
