Milano Cortina 2026 Day 8 Preview: Canada to play for gold in wheelchair curling 

Para cross-country skiers set for relays as Michaela Gosselin and Florence Carrier to race in Para alpine skiing slalom

Cortina, Italy, March 13, 2026 – Three sports are in action on the penultimate day of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, led by wheelchair curling with Canada playing for gold. Canadian athletes will also be competing in Para cross-country and Para alpine skiing. Below is a run-down of Day 8 action for the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Paralympic Team on Saturday March 14:   

Wheelchair Curling 
Mark Ideson, Ina Forrest, Jon Thurston, and Collinda Joseph will face off against China for wheelchair curling gold at 3:05 p.m. local time / 10:05 a.m. ET. Canada heads into the final with a perfect 10-0 record, including a 9-4triumph over China in the preliminary rounds. The Canadian team will be aiming to dethrone the Chinese, gold medallists at the last two Paralympic Winter Games. Canada has already improved on its bronze-medal finish from 2022 and 2018.  

Para Nordic Skiing – Para Cross-Country  
It is relay day in Para cross-country skiing. First up is the mixed 4 x 2.5km relay starting at 10 a.m. local time / 5 a.m. ET with Canada fielding Derek Zaplotinsky, Collin Cameron, Natalie Wilkie, and Mark Arendz. Then, Logan Lariviere and guide Joe Hutton, Jesse Bachinsky and guide Levi Nadlersmith, Emma Archibald, and Maddie Mullin and guide Brooke Ailey will race in the open 4 x 2.5km relay at 11:15 a.m. local time / 6:15 a.m. ET.  

Para Alpine Skiing  
Michaela Gosselin and Florence Carrier will conclude their Milano Cortina 2026 competition on the penultimate day of Para alpine skiing. The pair will race in the women’s standing slalom, with first runs starting at 9 a.m. local time / 4 a.m. ET followed by the second runs at 1 p.m. local time / 8 a.m. ET. Gosselin will be looking for her fifth Top 10 result of the Games.
