Applications now open for the 2020-21 Paralympic Sport Development Fund
OTTAWA – The Canadian Paralympic Committee officially launched the application process for the 2020-21 Paralympic Sport Development Fund on Wednesday, inviting sport organizations and clubs across Canada to apply for the grant.
The fund targets Paralympic sport development initiatives which help to develop athletes from the playground to podium and supports a sustainable sport system. Grants will be awarded in amounts between $5,000 and $15,000.
Funding support goes towards sport development programming, including recruitment initiatives, coaching, equipment, competition and more. Funds can be used to support the creation of a new program, or the expansion of an existing successful initiative.
Last year, the Canadian Paralympic Committee distributed $200,000 across 25 different programs or organizations. The Paralympic Sport Development Fund is made possible through contributions from Sport Canada and the CPC.
“We encourage organizations across the country to apply for the Paralympic Sport Development Fund,” said Karen O’Neill, CEO, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “There are so many groups throughout Canada doing such great work to support the development of Paralympic sport and Para athletes, and this fund is an important initiative to help grow programming and strengthen the system. We have seen strong results from past grantees and look forward to supporting more organizations and programs this coming year.”
