HALIFAX (Volleyball Canada) – After beating Finland to finish first in preliminary play Friday morning, Canada defeated Slovenia in the evening to advance to the gold medal match at the Women’s Paralympic Qualifier in sitting volleyball at the Canada Games Centre.

Both matches today were decisive 3-0 wins. Canada faces Ukraine in the gold-medal match on Saturday after Ukraine defeated Germany in five sets, in the other semi.

“I think the two matches today were a great opportunity to work on our systems and solidify a few things that we want to bring tomorrow,” said Nicole Ban, head coach of the Canadian women’s sitting volleyball team. “We played them before (Ukraine) in this tournament, but we know they are going to come fighting. It’s exciting.”

The winner of the gold-medal match tomorrow punches a ticket to Tokyo 2020.
