Voting opens for Canadian Paralympic Athletes’ Council election
Athletes have until February 13 to vote for three new positions
Three new athlete representative positions are up for election on the Canadian Paralympic Athletes’ Council, with voting commencing on January 23.
The nominated athletes for election are:
Alison Levine, Boccia
Heidi Peters, Sitting Volleyball
Amanda Rummery, Para Athletics
Mollie Jepsen, Para Alpine Skiing
Christina Picton, Para Nordic Skiing
The three open positions are for two summer athletes and one winter athlete. Athletes who have competed in any of the last four Paralympic Games (Paris 2024, Beijing 2022, Tokyo 2020, or PyeongChang 2018) are eligible to vote.
The outgoing Athletes’ Council members are chair Erica Gavel (wheelchair basketball), Ina Forrest (wheelchair curling), and Mike Whitehead (wheelchair rugby), while vice-chair Jeremy Hall (Para rowing), Amy Burk (goalball), Tyler McGregor (Para ice hockey), and Abi Tripp (Para swimming) are halfway through their four-year terms.
The Canadian Paralympic Athletes’ Council is an elected group of current and retired Paralympic athletes who advocate for the best interests of Canada’s Paralympians and the Paralympic Movement in Canada.
Eligible athletes have been sent voting details directly via email and can vote between now and February 13 to help decide who their representatives on the council will be for the next term.
