Mike Shaikh Appointed as Member of the Order of Canada for Dedication to Community
The longtime Paralympic Foundation of Canada board member has been honoured in the nation’s capital for his commitment to making a difference in his community.
The Paralympic Foundation of Canada (PFC) and the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) proudly congratulate Mike Shaikh on receiving a Member of the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours. This recognition celebrates his extraordinary dedication to community service, a service that includes his unwavering commitment to advancing the Paralympic Movement in Canada.
A passionate advocate, volunteer, and philanthropist, Shaikh has served on the Board of Directors of the PFC for over a decade. During that time, he has played a vital role in growing support for Para sport and in helping to shape the Foundation’s long-term vision.
Beyond his governance role, Shaikh has contributed as a donor himself and champion for the IGNITE campaign, Shaikh’s impact has helped remove barriers and create more opportunities for Canadians with a disability to participate and excel in sport.

Known for his infectious enthusiasm and signature Maple Leaf pants, Shaikh is a familiar face at Paralympic events, supporting athletes and teams from the stands, cheering on the Canadian Paralympic Team with pride. Most recently, he was on the ground at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, continuing his tradition of supporting athletes in person and inspiring others through his presence and generosity.
Mike Shaikh’s appointment to the Order of Canada is a reflection of his enduring contributions to equity, community, and sport. His vision and generosity continue to shape a more inclusive future for Para sport in Canada.
