March 21 at Vancouver 2010: McKeever brothers put exclamation point on super Games with gold

Canada placed third in the medal standings with 10 gold, five silver and four bronze.

Brian McKeever won Canada’s last medal at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games with gold in the men’s visually impaired one-kilometre sprint with guide and brother Robin McKeever. 

It was a third gold medal for McKeever who was in the midst of a career which would eventually make him Canada’s most successful winter Paralympian.

Canada placed third in the medal standings with 10 gold, five silver and four bronze. Russia was first in total medals with 38 and Germany second with 24. The Germans did win the gold medal count with 13 followed by the Russians with 12. There were 44 nations entered.

Thirteen of Canada’s medals came in Para alpine skiing, with five in Para nordic, and one in wheelchair curling.
