Keely Shaw (Midale, SK) has captured Canada’s first medal of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, with a bronze in the women’s C4 3000m individual pursuit in Para track cycling. 

Shaw, who finished third in qualifying to make the bronze-medal race, took on Meg Lemon of Australia for a place on the podium. Shaw started off just behind her opponent, before taking over the lead and holding on for the victory in a personal-best time of 3:48.342. This is 27-year-old Shaw’s first Paralympic medal, in her maiden Games appearance.
