OTTAWA – The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is officially accepting applications for the 2023-24 Paralympic Sport Development Fund, in support of sport organizations across Canada offering quality Para sport initiatives.

The Paralympic Sport Development Fund provides grants for local sport organizations, clubs, and programs that help athletes along their development pathway, including for items like recruitment initiatives, coaching, equipment, competition and more. Funds can be used to support the creation of a new program or the expansion of an existing successful initiative.

Funding amounts of between $5,000 and $20,000 will be available. In 2022, a total of $200,000 was distributed across 19 organizations.

CPC is encouraging collaborative projects that include more than one organization working together to deliver initiatives across multiple sports, to creatively explore new ideas to further develop Para sport in Canada. Projects with a specific focus on supporting women and girls in Para sport, both as athletes and coaches, are also encouraged.

“The Paralympic Sport Development Fund continues to be an important initiative to support and enhance the great work being done by many organizations across Canada,” said Karen O’Neill, CEO, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “The growth of the Paralympic sport system in Canada relies on quality sport opportunities for people with a disability. Thank you to the many people who are committed to developing strong sport programming, and we look forward to supporting more organizations this year.”

The Paralympic Sport Development Fund is made possible through contributions from CPC and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada.
