Recently the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) Board of Directors came together in Ottawa for a dedicated retreat focused on planning, connection, and collaboration as the organization looks ahead to the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games and LA 2028 Paralympic Games.

The retreat marked the first in-person gathering for the newly elected Board, creating space for relationship-building and strategic alignment as Canada prepares for the next chapter of Paralympic excellence on the global stage.

“This retreat was a great moment for our board as we unite behind a shared vision for Milano Cortina 2026 and beyond,” said Marc-André Fabien, president of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. “Bringing members of the athletes’ council, Paralympians and directors together in this way reinforces the core values of our organization of collaboration, belonging and joy.”

In addition to forward-looking discussions around governance, strategic priorities, and operational goals, board members had the opportunity to hear directly from Paralympians. These athlete stories provided personal insight into the commitment, challenges, and pride that come with representing Canada at the highest level of Para sport.

To further connect with the athlete experience, board members also took part in friendly games of boccia, experiencing first-hand the precision, mental focus, and skill required to compete in this highly strategic Paralympic sport.

“We are proud to welcome new board members to the CPC and grateful for the passion and expertise they bring,” Karen O’Neill, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee shared. “The weekend gave us a valuable opportunity to connect deeply with our mission and the athletes who drive it.”

The CPC Board of Directors continues to play a vital role in guiding the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring strong leadership and accountability on the path to supporting Canadian Paralympic athletes and the Paralympic Movement across the nation.
