TORONTO – The Canadian Paralympic Committee and marketing partner BBDO, as The Paralympic Network, was named Best of Show at the 2019 Marketing Awards in Toronto last Thursday.
The award was won for the marketing strategy of last year’s Greatness is Rare campaign for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, showcasing the unique talents and incredible skills of Canada’s Paralympians, and just how rare their abilities are. The campaign included spots featuring Paralympians Mac Marcoux, Ina Forrest, and Greg Westlake filmed in Yukon, and a unique digital component that allowed fans to broadcast the Games on their own Facebook channels.
“We are so proud of our work with BBDO to spread the message of the greatness of our Paralympic athletes,” said Martin Richard, executive director, Communications and Brand, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “Our Greatness is Rare campaign was truly unique and innovative and helped showcase the Paralympic Games in Canada using a new approach. Thank you to BBDO for your dedication to the Paralympic Movement and your inspiring creativity, and we can’t wait until the next campaign.”
The Paralympic Network also won five awards in the Public Service category – three gold awards in community building, integrated campaign, and online along with a silver in branded content, and a bronze in integrated campaign led by PR.
