The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport, announced today targeted funding to support the increase of participation of women and girls in sport as athletes and leaders.

Statement from Marc-André Fabien, President, Canadian Paralympic Committee:

“The Canadian Paralympic Committee is pleased to see Minister Duncan’s continued emphasis on working towards gender equity and making sport at all levels more accessible and welcoming to girls and women. We strongly believe in the power of sport to positively impact one’s life, and that sport should be accessible to people of all abilities, gender, and background. This is another important building block towards a more inclusive sport system in Canada, and it is through the collective efforts of the sport community as a whole that gender equity in sport will become a reality.”
