Canadian Para swimmers win bronze in women’s 4X100-m freestyle relay

Third medal of Tokyo 2020 for Aurélie Rivard

Aurélie Rivard anchored Canada to the bronze medal in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay on Sunday at the Paralympic Games.

It was a third medal in Tokyo for Rivard, from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. She also took gold in the S10 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

This time Rivard was joined by Morgan Bird of Calgary, Katarina Roxon of Kippens, N.L., and Sabrina Duchesne of St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Que. as they clocked four minutes and 30.40 seconds. Italy took the gold in 4:24.85 and Australia was second in 4:26.82. USA was originally second and Great Britain fourth but both were disqualified which put the Canadians in the bronze medal position.

Canada ends the fifth day of the Games with three more medals bringing the total to 11 with one gold, six silver and four bronze.
