OTTAWA – Andrea Carey, a member of the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Board of Directors since 2010, has stepped down from her role, effective this past weekend.
“Andrea has been such a valued, dedicated, and passionate member of our community for many years,” said Marc-André Fabien, president, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “It has been a pleasure working with her, and on behalf of the Board we thank her for all of her vast contributions. While Andrea will no longer have a formal role with us, we know she will still be an active and involved member of the Paralympic Movement and we look forward to working with her in new capacities.”
Carey has made an indelible impact during her time with the CPC, and most recently was chair of the Diversity and Inclusion committee and chair of the Paralympic Pathways committee. Among her achievements was working alongside the CPC on developing resources to promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all in sport.
With the growth of her new company INclusion INcorporated, Carey felt it was time to contribute to the sport community in a different way.
“It has been my privilege and gift to be part of the Canadian Paralympic Committee Board for 10 years, and I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the members and to contribute to the growth of the Paralympic Movement during that time,” said Carey. “I have worked to serve the members and the interests of the CPC with integrity and with reverence for the athletes, coaches, leadership, and staff who make up such an incredible family. Thank you and the entire Paralympic Movement so much for this journey, and I look forward to our next steps together.”
The next Board of Directors election will take place in March 2021.
