It was Canada’s third medal of the competition. In addition to Hayward’s medals, Paralympic Games silver medallist Nathan Clement of West Vancouver took gold in the men’s T1 (three-wheel) time trial on Tuesday. His road race is on Friday.
In other road races Thursday, Kara Douville of Calgary was seventh in the women’s H4 (handcycle) and Maarten Duif of Carleton Place, Ont. was 10th in the men’s H1.
