STEINACH, Austria – Alexis Guimond of Gatineau, Que., collected his second gold medal in two days with a victory in the men’s standing Super G on Friday to conclude the season opening Para alpine skiing World Cup.

Mollie Jepsen of West Vancouver notched her second straight silver in the women’s standing Super G.

“It was another tactical course,’’ said Guimond who won the first Super G on Thursday. ’’I was too aggressive at the start, but I managed to get myself back on track quickly enough to maintain my speed. I really felt the fatigue in the second half. Still, I put in a good run and I’m very proud of my effort.’’

Guimond, a double Paralympic Games medallist, clocked one minute and 12.33 seconds for the win with Jules Segers of France second 0.97 seconds back and Robin Cuche of Switzerland third 1.06 behind Guimond.

Kelsey O’Driscoll of the U.S. took the women’s standing race in 1:17.68 with Jepsen second in 1:17.78 and Wenjing Zhu of China third in 1:18.17. Mikaela Gosselin of Collingwood, Ont., was eighth.

The World Cup season resumes this Monday to Wednesday with a double downhill in Santa Caterina, Italy.
