2026 Canadian Paralympic Athletes’ Council Call for Nominations 

The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is currently seeking nominations for its Athletes’ Council for one (1) winter sport representative and three (3) summer sport representatives for a four-year term and one (1) summer sport representative for a two-year term.     

The Canadian Paralympic Athletes’ Council is an elected group of current and retired Paralympic athletes (within the past eight years) that serve as the collective voice, advocating the best interests of Canada’s Paralympic athletes and the Paralympic Movement within Canada. The Athletes’ Council works to provide input and recommendations from an athlete perspective to the Canadian Paralympic Committee staff, committees and Board of a Directors with respect to decision making at all levels of the organization. 

Eligibility for Nomination:   

To be eligible for election, an individual must:   

• be eligible to compete at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games or French Alps 2030 Paralympic Winter Games; or    

• have competed in the previous two editions of the relevant Paralympic Games to their sport; or   

• has previously competed at a relevant Paralympic Games and has officially retired from sport within the last eight years of the day the nomination is submitted; AND    

• be in good standing with their National Sport Organization, receive their National Sport Organization endorsement, and must not have any previous anti-doping rule violations.  

A completed nomination package includes:   

• Nomination form;  

• Letter of support from the National Sport Organization (NSO) with whom the athlete is affiliated;  

• Background letter and résumé from the nominated athlete, including involvement in the Paralympic Movement.
