Shacarra Orr ranked in the top-10 in scoring at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto with 28 points, as Canada qualified for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games with a bronze medal performance. Orr helped Canada to seventh at the Rio Games.

On October 1, 2011 at age 15, a car accident left Orr with a permanent disability in her right arm. She was on her way to a high school volleyball tournament and a coronation of sorts as she would have been announced captain of her grade 10 squad.

Before her accident, Orr played volleyball at both the high school and club level. She returned to the able-bodied game after the accident but despite all the hard work in physiotherapy, it was difficult to reach her previous skill level. At a tournament, she was noticed by sitting volleyball coach Paul Shearme and he recommended she give the sitting version a try.

Along with the many adjustments needed to play the sitting version of the game, Orr also learned to serve and pass as a left-handed player. She first earned a spot as a setter on the national sitting volleyball team in 2013.
