At the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Samantha Ryan finished seventh in the SM10 200-m individual medley in a personal best time.

At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Ryan made her first Paralympic final in the 100-m butterfly, finishing 5th in Canadian record time.

Ryan showed the world in 2015 she is one of Canada’s fastest rising stars in Para swimming. At the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games, she swam in seven events, winning silver in the 100-m butterfly. A few weeks earlier, she took fifth place in the same event at the IPC World Championships

At age 15, Ryan was the youngest member on Team Canada at the 2014 Pan Pacific Para swimming Championships in Pasadena. She collected bronze medals in the S10 100-m butterfly and 200-m individual medley, in addition to reaching five other finals.

Has a condition known as drop foot which makes it difficult to control her feet…Always steps on block with her right foot first… Learned to swim with the Flin Flon Aqua Jets and joined the Saskatoon Goldfins in 2012.
