Reed De’Aeth is a rising star in Canadian wheelchair basketball from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Born on August 20, 2002, De’Aeth was introduced to adaptive sports at a Para athlete search event in Calgary, where he initially tried wheelchair basketball, Para ice hockey, and Para nordic skiing. He ultimately focused on wheelchair basketball, quickly demonstrating his potential and skill in the sport.
In 2022, De’Aeth was named to Canada’s Under-23 team for the Americas Championship and later earned a spot on the Senior Men’s National Team. His achievements include helping Canada secure a bronze medal at the 2023 Parapan American Games and a sixth-place finish at the 2023 World Championships. These accomplishments were pivotal in qualifying Canada for the Paris 2024 Paralympics, where De’Aeth will make his Paralympic debut.
Born without a fibula, De’Aeth had his left foot amputated at the age of four. Despite this, he has shown remarkable resilience and dedication, balancing his athletic career with his studies at the University of Texas at Arlington.
