Pascal Lapointe was a double medallist at the Parapan Am Games in 2019, the first time the sport of Para badminton was included in the program.
He enjoyed a strong 2022 season, placing fourth with partner William Roussy in SL3-4 men’s doubles and SL4 men’s singles at the Pan Am Championships in Cali, Colombia.
At the 2019 Parapan Ams in Lima, Lapointe and Olivia Meier took gold in mixed doubles and he added a bronze in singles. His singles podium was Canada’s first ever Para badminton medal at the Games.
In 2018, he won three medals at the Pan Am Championships in Lima which included a gold with Meier.
He started playing at around age eight. Because the sport requires a dominant hand it was more suitable to his impairment than other sports he tried. However he stopped for several years before coming back to the sport in 2016.
