Nicholas Heffernan is a veteran on Canada’s Para soccer team. He has played in 35 international matches with 23 starts, as of October 2023 He has represented Canada at four IFCPF World Cups (2015, 2017, 2019, 2022).
In 2015 at the Parapan American Games in Toronto, Heffernan was the youngest member on the Canadian 7-a-side football team (also known as CP Football). He made his national team debut at the 2014 America Cup and in 2015 he was also on the roster for the CP World Championships in England.
Heffernan was discovered by national assistant coach Doug Lusk of St. Thomas, Ont., when he was 14. He has cerebral palsy which affects his right side.
