At his second Paralympic Games in 2016, Stein made the final in all three of his events. His best result being a 5th place finish in both the 100-m butterfly and 50-m freestyle. Stein also finished 7th in the 100-m freestyle.
In 2015, he collected four silver medals at the Parapan American Games in Toronto and notched bronze medals in the 50-m and 100-m freestyles at the IPC World Championships.
At the Pan Pacific Para-swimming Championships in Pasadena, the biggest event of the year for Canadian para-swimmers in 2014, Stein won two medals, lowering teammate Benoit Huot’s Canadian record in both. In the S10 100-m butterfly he took the gold and added a silver in the 100-m freestyle.
