Muhammad Mudassar was diagnosed with polio early in childhood but that didn’t prevent him from participating in several sports including table tennis.  In his native Pakistan he competed in wheelchair racing and was also a four-time national table tennis champion.

He moved to Canada in 2003 and entered his first Para table tennis championships in 2004 winning a bronze medal.  His working career became a priority for the next few years. He re-emerged on the national table tennis scene in 2010 and won a gold medal at the Canadian championships. He made his multi-sport Games debut at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games.

As of October 2023 in the world rankings he sits 62nd in singles in the Class 4 category and 60th in doubles. In the Americas rankings he is ninth in singles and doubles. In late 2022, he took bronze in singles at the COPA tournament.
