Forward Micah Kovacevich has been on Canada’s last three world championship team. He helped the squad to gold in 2024, its first world title in seven years, and silver medals in 2023 and 2025.
The Edmontonian, born with spina bifida, discovered Para ice hockey at age nine after his father, a lifelong hockey player, noticed the sport being played at a local rink. Of Serbian heritage, Kovacevich also has family ties to Minot, North Dakota, through his mother. Before focusing solely on para ice hockey, he also played wheelchair basketball.
Kovacevich describes himself as a fast, hard-working player who thrives on an aggressive forecheck. He brings consistent energy and physical pressure to every shift, aiming to disrupt opponents and create space for his teammates. Rather than settling into a purely defensive role, he focuses on making things happen and driving play forward.
