Kamylle Frenette is a Canadian Para triathlete who has been selected to represent Canada at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, marking her second appearance at the Paralympic Games. Born on July 4, 1996, in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Frenette was born with a club foot, resulting in her right foot being two sizes smaller than her left and reduced mobility in her ankle.

Frenette’s journey in triathlon began at a young age, inspired by watching her father compete. At 16, she started training and racing locally with him. She competed in sprint distances until she was 18, when she participated in her first Ironman in Calgary. From 2014 to 2018, she focused on her running with the Université de Moncton cross country team. In December 2016, she was approached by Triathlon Canada’s Para head coach, Carolyn Murray, to join the sport, and she quickly found success on the international stage.

In 2018, Frenette had a stellar rookie season, winning a Para triathlon World Cup race and finishing second in the World Para triathlon Series in Edmonton. She added another World Cup victory in 2019 in Magog, Quebec. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Frenette finished an impressive fourth in the women’s PTS5 category. She followed this with a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships.

Frenette continued to build on her success, winning bronze medals at the 2023 World Triathlon Para Series in Montreal and the World Triathlon Para Cup Paris test event. She also finished fourth at the 2023 World Triathlon Para Championships in Pontevedra, Spain. As of July 2024, she is ranked fourth in the world in the women’s PTS5 category. In her international career, Frenette has earned four victories and 21 medals overall in 29 starts.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Frenette graduated from Université de Moncton with a degree in biology in 2018 and earned a second degree in pharmacy from Dalhousie University in 2022. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked as a frontline healthcare provider, delivering vaccinations while continuing her training.

Kamylle Frenette’s dedication to both her sport and her profession exemplifies her remarkable work ethic and resilience as she prepares for her second Paralympic appearance in Paris 2024.
