Jason Roberts produced a breakthrough season in 2015 earning the gold medal in shotput at the Parapan American Games in Toronto and a few weeks later a bronze in discus at the IPC World Athletics Championships. At the worlds, Roberts set a personal best of 31.98-metres to secure Canada’s 11th and final medal of the competition. Roberts moved to Canada from Grenada in 2008. He first tried football and basketball before finding his niche in throwing sports. He competes in the F34 category in which athletes throw from a sitting position. His disability is due to an acquired brain injury.
