Jason Crone began his sports career as a high-level hockey and lacrosse player. In 2003, his minor midget AA team won the provincial championships and he’d also won a zone championship title with his lacrosse team. All that changed when, at 15, he sustained a spinal cord injury during a hockey game. When Crone started playing wheelchair rugby in 2006, his athletic background helped him to adapt quickly to his new sport. He made the national team just a year later.
After winning bronze at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and silver at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Crone decided to retire to open a snow removal company. Now, he’s coming out of retirement with the goal of competing on home soil at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games.
