Jackie Gay and her husband John McRoberts won the silver medal in the two-person keelboat at the 2016 Paralympic Games.
Gay sailed as a child in her father’s boats around the UK and Europe. “I love boats,” says Gay. However, she was never involved in competitive racing until after her injury in 1994, when she lost her leg in a car accident in Africa. She began Paralympic sailing and worked her way up the ranks as a 2.4mR sailor; she now knows that she has the ability to succeed at the highest level.
The husband and wife team of McRoberts and Gay were awarded the 2013 Sail Canada Team of the Year.
