Jack Leitch was the guide for visually impaired Para alpine skier Mac Marcoux at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games. The pair won the downhill gold and bronze in the giant slalom.

Leitch hooked-up with Marcoux for the 2016-17 season. The new combination enjoyed immediate success, capped by four gold medals and a silver at the 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships in Tarvisio, Italy in January 2017.

In March 2017, the duo raced the Para alpine World Cup Final, the test event on the course that will be used for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, in South Korea. They took gold in the downhill, silver in the Super G and fourth in the slalom. They were crowned the World Cup downhill season champions.

Leitch said he was thrilled with the opportunity to guide Marcoux, one of the top young Para alpine skiers in the world, and help him achieve his goals on the road to the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

Marcoux says Leitch is a great fit for his skiing because the former Alberta provincial team member is a strong and confident racer. “We both share similar strengths and weaknesses, making it easy for both of us to work on our skiing together,” Marcoux said.
