At the 2016 Paralympics, Gordie Michie made the final in the 100-m backstroke and 200-m individual medley where he finished 5th and 8th. In the 100-m breastroke and 200-m freestyle, he finished in 11th.
The 2015 season was an unforgettable one for Michie. At the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games he won gold and set a Canadian record in the 100-m backstroke, took silver in the 200-m IM, and bronze in both the 200-m freestyle and 100-m breaststroke.
A few weeks earlier at the 2015 IPC World Championships, Michie set Canadian records in the 200-m IM and 100-m breaststroke, finishing sixth and fifth in those events.
Michie earned a berth on his first major team for Swimming Canada in 2014 for the Para Pan Pacific Championships in Pasadena. He went on to earn a gold medal in the 100-m backstroke and bronze in the 200-m individual medley.

Michie also runs track for the Arthur Voaden Vikings and the St. Thomas Legion Track and Field Club…He trains with coach Penny Bosma and the St. Thomas Jumbo Jets…His father is his hero for his commitment to his athletic career.
