Charlotte Bolton, a rising star in Canadian Para athletics, has secured her place on the Paris 2024 Canadian Paralympic Team, marking her second appearance at the Paralympics. At just 21 years old, Bolton holds all three Canadian records in the F41 throwing events, including shot put (9.05 metres), javelin (20.33 metres), and discus (29.65 metres). Her 2024 season has seen her further lower her marks in discus and shot put, showcasing her continual improvement and dedication to her sport.
Bolton made her Paralympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where she placed sixth in both the shot put and discus events. She continued her strong performance at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships, achieving two top-10 finishes in discus (8th) and shot put (9th). At the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Charlotte broke through for bronze in the Women’s Discus Throw F41 event, her first major international medal. These achievements underscore her rapid ascent in the international Para athletics scene.
Before her Paralympic career, Bolton competed at the World Dwarf Games in 2013 and 2017 and participated in junior freestyle skiing championships in 2019. She is currently a biology student at York University. Her athletic journey began after a switch from skiing to throwing events in 2018, driven by her recognition during a Paralympian search event.
