Brian Rowland is enjoying his best season yet on the World Cup circuit in 2025–26. He has recorded six top-10 finishes in his first seven races, highlighted by a fifth-place result in downhill at the World Cup stop in Santa Caterina, Italy.

These performances mark an impressive comeback for Rowland, who battled back-to-back shoulder injuries over the past two seasons, including fractures to both scapulae. His resilience has been evident in his steady progression since making his Paralympic debut at the 2022 Games in Beijing. That trajectory includes earning his first World Cup medal in March 2023 and being named to the world championship team later that season.

During the 2021–22 campaign, Rowland gained valuable international experience in the lead-up to his first Paralympic Games, competing at two World Cup events and the World Para Snow Sports Championships.

Competing in the sitting category, Rowland joined the national team in 2019 after capturing silver at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta. He began skiing following a motocross accident in 2015 that resulted in a spinal cord injury. The injury did not slow him down — he continues to surf, mountain bike, and Jet Ski when he’s off the slopes.

Rowland joined the adaptive ski program in Calabogie, Ont., began competing for Team Ontario in the winter of 2018, and advanced to Alpine Canada’s NextGen program the following season.

Before his injury, Rowland drew inspiration from Terry Fox, the Canadian icon who ran across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. That admiration continues to shape his commitment to mentoring young athletes today.
