Alexandre Cloutier is the guide for para-cyclist Daniel Chalifour. The 14-year national team veteran will make his Parapan American Games debut in Toronto. Cloutier competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2008 Paralympics. He won the mixed tandem road race gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games with Julie Cournoyer. In 2009 he was third in the time trial at the world road championships and 2012, he was third in the team pursuit at the track worlds, both results with Chalifour.
Cloutier started cycling in 1989 as cross training for speed skating and went on to a successful national and international career. When he started piloting for visually impaired cycling, he continued to pursue a berth on the Olympic team but just fell short in 2000 and 2004.
