News update: Powerful team named for wheelchair curling world championships
OTTAWA – Canada will ice powerful squads for the March 2024 Wheelchair Curling World Championships and the mixed doubles wheelchair curling worlds.
Both events will be held in Gangneung, South Korea, the curling venue for the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. The foursome event is set for March 2-9 immediately followed by the mixed doubles March 10-16.

Priscilla Gagné overcomes injury to win silver at Para judo Grand Prix
TOKYO – Priscilla Gagné returned to Tokyo Tuesday and won the silver medal in the women’s 57 kilos at the Para judo Grand Prix.
Gagné, Canada’s flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony at Tokyo 2020 where she also placed second, lost to archrival Liana Mutia of the U.S. in the final. Early in the bout, Gagné was awarded a Waza-ari but the official reversed the decision a few seconds later.

Canada concludes Santiago 2023 Parapan Am Games with 52 medals
Santiago, November 26, 2023 – The Santiago 2023 Parapan Am Games officially came to an end on Sunday, with the Canadian Parapan Am Team capping the Games with five medals won on the final day of competition before Alison Levine carried the flag for Canada at the Closing Ceremony.
In Para badminton, William Roussy claimed silver in the men’s singles SL3 draw while Yuka Chokyu took bronze in the women’s singles WH1 tournament as did Bernard Lapointe in men’s singles WH2.
William Roussy takes another giant step with silver at Parapan Am Games
SANTIAGO – William Roussy of Marie, Que. is just getting better with age. And the good news is, he’s only 20.
Roussy won the silver medal in the Para badminton SL3 men’s standing singles Sunday, dropping the final 11-21, 21-18, 21-15 to defending champion Pedro de Vinatea of Peru.
In addition, Bernard Lapointe of St-Léonard, Que. and Yuka Chokyu of Vancouver added bronze.
Alison Levine named Canada’s Closing Ceremony flag bearer at Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games
SANTIAGO – Boccia player Alison Levine (Montreal, Que.) has been named Canada’s Closing Ceremony flag bearer for the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee announced Sunday.
“I never in a million years thought of this moment,” said Levine. “I’m shocked, everyone who has carried that flag has been selected for a reason, and to just feel like I was selected for a reason as well is so amazing. I’m truly honoured.”
