Marc Dorion helped Canada win the bronze medal in Para ice hockey t the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. They were Dorion’s third Games .

At the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, Marc Dorion was Canada’s second leading scorer and the team’s youngest member at age 19 in a golden performance.

While he was disappointed in Canada’s fourth place finish at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games four years later, he believes sledge hockey has come a long way in terms of public awareness since he first joined the national side at age 16.

Now retired from competitive sport, Dorion feels fortunate to have benefitted from playing with Canadian sledge hockey legends Hervé Lord, Jean Labonté and Todd Nicholson in his early years with the national team. Those veterans showed the way by example both on and off the ice.

When he was 16, Dorion earned his spot on Team Canada due to his determination and strong work ethic. He is described as a fearless player on the ice and plays physically, driven by the goal of winning gold at every tournament.

Originally from Bourget, Ontario, Dorion studied criminology at the University of Ottawa. Marc gets his inspiration from his parents and role models: his mother Connie and his father Roch, a volunteer firefighter in Bourget, Ont., who is also a hockey player and has served as the team’s equipment manager 2006.
Dorion was born with spina bifida which resulted in paralysis in his legs.
