Lance Cryderman is one of the great comeback stories in Canadian sport. A Paralympian in boccia at the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000, he took a hiatus from the sport in 2001 to finish his master’s degree in business administration. He only returned to the boccia court in 2017.

His first giant step in his comeback bid occurred in 2022 as he made the national team for the world championships. In Rio at worlds, he reached the round of 16 in the men’s BC1 category and was also a member of the BC1-2 team.

He won bronze in the test event in Santiago in July 2023. It was his first international medal.
Cryderman first became involved in boccia at the early age of 12 when he joined the Sudbury Shooting Stars.

After watching the webcast of the 2017 Canadian Boccia Championships, he decided to play competitively again.

Cryderman went on to win bronze at the 2018 Défi Sportif AlterGo National Open, silver at the 2018 Canadian Boccia Championships, silver at the 2019 Canadian Boccia Championships, and silver at the 2021 Canadian Boccia Championships.
