Katie Cosgriffe burst on the international stage in 2023 and has quickly checked many goals in blossoming Para swimming career so far.

At the 2025 World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore, the second of her career, Cosgriffe reached the worlds podium for the first time, capturing silver in the women’s 100-m backstroke S10 and bronze in the 100 butterfly.

At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the first of her career at age 18, Cosgriffe claimed bronze in the 100-m butterfly S10 and reached the final in the 100 backstroke S10, placing fifth.

At her first Para Swimming World Championships in 2023, Cosgriffe contributed to setting a Canadian record in the mixed 4×100-metre medley relay event with a time of 4:42.32.  She was the youngest member on the team and reached three individual finals.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

2024 Paralympic Games (1 bronze medal)… 2023, 2025 world championships ( 1 silver and 1 bronze)…  2022-2023, Cosgriffe was one of seven Victor Davis Memorial Fund Award recipients…  2023 named Canada’s breakout Para swimmer by Swimming Canada…At the 2022 Canada Summer Games, Cosgriffe won seven medals in Para swimming for Team Ontario, including six gold.^[4]

Started swimming at age 9… Diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) in early 2021… Bachelor of Business Administration and Financial Math student and competitive swimmer for the Wilfrid Laurier University since 2024-25…
