Julien Petit is the guide for visually impaired alpine skier Logan Leach, a rookie on the national team in the 2021-22 season.
The pair competed at the two first World Cup stops in the 2021-22 season. They accumulated eight top-10 results in the visually impaired category, their best result a fifth in slalom at the second stop in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
As Leach progressed through the development pathway at a torrid pace, the challenge was to find a guide who could match his speed, skill, and passion. Prior to the 2019-20 season, BC Adaptive Snowsports was able to recruit and hire Petit out of Quebec.
From their 2019-20 home base on Silver Star Mountain, Leach and Petit proved to be a great match, putting in the time and effort to achieve the goal of making the national team.
Petit grew up in Bromont, Que., where he raced before moving out west to join Leach.
