Classification

Joanie Caron started cycling at age 20 to maintain fitness following an injury in track and field. A veteran individual rider on the pro circuit, she decided to undertake a new challenge in 2015 as a pilot. Her first partner was Robbi Weldon and they raced two World Cup events. She then joined forces with visually-impaired rider Shawna Ryan to win the bronze medal in the mixed time trial at the Parapan American Games in Toronto.

The biggest influence in Caron’s career is American cyclist Tina Pic because she is generous with her advice and expertise. She also credits her track and field coach Jeannot Langlois, who often reminds her it is not only the results that count.
