Multiple Canadian champion Asad Hussain Syed has enjoyed a solid 2023 season. He won the bronze medal in men’s singles class 9 at the U.S. Para Open in September and the gold medal at the Canadian championships.

As of October 2023, he is ranked 44th in the world in singles and 38th in doubles player and in the Americas region he is third and sixth.

In 2022, he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, earning a victory in three matches in pool play.

Syed, fifth in singles at the 2015 Parapan American Games, started playing the sport in his home country of Pakistan and represented his school in competitions. Syed says he was attracted by the speed of the sport and the fact it is accessible for many disabilities.
