Antoine Lehoux

In 2018, Antoine Lehoux was one of the final three cuts from the Canadian team that would go on to win silver at the Paralympic Winter Games. The decision left him heartbroken.

The forward has bounced back nicely. He has been part of Canada’s last two world championship squads in 2019 and 2021, and now in 2022 will be making his Paralympic debut in Beijing. 

At his first worlds, Lehoux scored twice in a victory over Norway. He had the chance to score those first two world championship goals while playing alongside those he originally admired in the sport, Dominic Larocque, Liam Hickey and Tyler McGregor.

In November 2012, while serving as a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces, Antoine Lehoux travelled on a bus with his regiment to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony. The bus skidded due to the wet road surface near Beauceville, Que., which caused him to be thrown through a window and his right leg was crushed. He had his leg amputated above the knee as a result.

During his rehabilitation he was invited to take up Para ice hockey by Gaetan Bouchard, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces who had lost a leg while serving in Afghanistan. He began playing in 2013 in Quebec City.
