Alexandra Starker raced five years in able-bodied racing and is a promising future podium contender. In her first full year on the para-alpine skiing team (2012-13), Starker was the Canadian slalom champion and ranked as the top female Canadian by earning four podium finishes at IPC World Cups and the world championships. Sochi was Starker’s first Paralympic Games experience.

The Calgary native, who takes inspiration from Canadian skiing legend Nancy Greene Raine, studied at the National Sport School in Calgary and likes to read and create colorful works of art with her paintbrush. A congenital arm amputee, Starker also plays the guitar using a special prosthetic.
