Even though Canada’s Paralympians are not able to compete right now, or train at their normal pace, they are still keeping themselves busy whether it’s doing at-home workouts, virtual chatting with friends and family, or sharing their stories in the news and on social media. Each week, we compile various top social posts and articles to see what Canadian Para athletes have been up to. Here are some highlights from the past week:
Cindy Ouellet, a member of Canada’s national women’s wheelchair basketball team, hosted this week’s penultimate edition of the weekly Team Canada Champion Chats. Special guests included her teammate Tara Llanes who talked about how she stays sharp and motivated during this pandemic.
Vincent Dallaire, a member of Canada’s national men’s wheelchair basketball team, shows why he likes outdoor workouts the best.
“Outside workouts are the best!” @VinceDallaire is taking on all challenges with a positive attitude ♿️ #CSIO #WheelchairBasketball #BuildingChampions #SportforCanada @WCBballCanada @ONPARANETWORK @CDNParalympics @SportCanada_EN @ownthepodium pic.twitter.com/LVxGNv1sCy

Minster of Canadian Heritage Steven Guilbeault was inspired by the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s ParaTough Training Series as he and his kids joined the workout video by Canadian wheelchair rugby team members. Check out all of the ParaTough training videos HERE.
Our family took up the @CDNParalympics athletes #Paratough challenge and we also take the @ParticipACTION #ActiveFamilyPledge today. Get active with your kids, whatever the activity! pic.twitter.com/5jF1AqtWBj

Of course Sunday was Father’s Day and many athletes made special shoutouts to their Dads. Here are a couple examples:
HAPPY Father’s Day! “It takes strength, courage, commitment, energy, dedication, drive and love to be a special dad. My dad has given me the gift to believe in myself and has stood by me since my first Nationals in 1991.” – Hanif Mawji pic.twitter.com/FlSTAu6Dzb
