The Paralympic Foundation of Canada (PFC) is proud to announce Toyota Canada’s support of the #IgniteTheLight fundraising campaign. The IGNITE the Light virtual seats fundraising initiative calls on Canadians from coast to coast to coast to show their support for the nation’s Paralympic athletes by purchasing virtual seats, filling a virtual stadium with national pride and encouragement.
Toyota Canada is supporting a bronze level suite of seats in our IGNITE The Light virtual stadium to help the PFC raise $1 million in support of this year’s Canadian Paralympic Team and to help support the development of future Canadian Paralympians. This 400-seat virtual suite will represent the organization’s employees and families who will be cheering on the Canadian Paralympic Team in Paris this summer.
“Supporting the IGNITE the Light initiative will help the Paralympic Foundation of Canada in its mission to drive the development of Para sport across the nation and provide more opportunities for Canadians with a disability to participate in sport,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Toyota Canada.
“On behalf of the entire Toyota Canada family, we wish the Canadian Paralympic Team the very best of luck in Paris and we look forward to cheering them on as they take on the world’s best.”
At the heart of the IGNITE The Light initiative is the main goal of raising funds for Para sport development in Canada. This includes making specialized sports equipment more accessible for emerging athletes with a disability at community sport organizations. Equipment like racing wheelchairs, running blades, special bicycles, and other adaptive gear are crucial for Para athletes to perform well in their sports. However, because this equipment often needs to be customized, it can be expensive and hard for emerging athletes to afford.
Toyota Canada’s support for IGNITE The Light is deeply connected to its core beliefs. Just as Toyota vehicles help people move and get to where they need to go, the special equipment backed by this initiative helps Para athletes strive for greatness. Toyota’s dedication to innovation and movement matches perfectly with IGNITE The Light’s goals, as both aim to help people overcome challenges and overcome the impossible.
